On The Scene: LG ‘Sound Bites’ Event

Chef Dale Talde & Tim Alessi

This week, on Wednesday the 19th, LG Electronics and Chef Dale Talde ( three-time contestant on Bravo’s “Top Chef”) hosted LG’s “Sound Bites” event where LG’s latest innovations were showcased.

Tim Alessi, who is in charge of product marketing at LG, kicked off the evening by welcoming everyone and introducing Chef Dale Talde.

“This is not your typical product showcase, usually we’ll gather people here and talk a lot about total harmonic distortion and things like that.” Tim Alessi said.

The fact that LG took a chance organizing this event quite differently, is applaudable. Technology is meant to push boundaries.

The event was divided into 6 zones, and each zone showcased a different LG audio product. There were LG product trainees in every zone/room to talk you through the product and its functions as well.

In addition to showcasing the innovative audio products and their features; Chef Dale Talde, prepared dishes and and curated a menu inspired by the music he listens to. Hence, the food that was served, complemented the innovations being showcased.

“Music in a restaurant helps set up the vibe, helps set up atmosphere. A lot of the times I feel like cooking is a dance. From firing appetizers, to entrees, to desserts, to getting some coffee. Music to me, helps that rhythm.” Chef Dale Talde said.

So, Chef Talde paired the dishes with his favorite music.

The “jerk shrimp cocktail” was paired to reggae music.

The “deviled eggs, smothered, collard greens, ham hocks” was paired with hip-hop.

The “Italian beef” was paired with Chicago house music.

The dessert to end all was the “chocolate sundae” and it was paired with early 90s R&B.

When it came to the products, the most popular product that kept catching everyone’s attention was the “PJ9 Zerog Levitating Portable Bluetooth Speaker”. This was a floating speaker.

The speaker was branded as “defying gravity, defying normal” and it really was.

People would take pictures of it, take pictures with it and try seeing if it would fall if they place their hand right under it. It was definitely an attraction. Tim Alessi described their whole sound bar lineup as their “most exciting”.

The idea of bringing together what we hear with what we taste and creating this experience of an event is very interesting. Tim Alessi when describing the commonality between audio, video and food said that:  “everything that we see, taste and hear, can be broken down into basic elements and it’s how those elements come together that makes the magic happen.”

So don’t miss out on the magic and make sure to check out LG’s products.
