Lanvin’s Ode to French Fashion

Lanvin’s Autumn/Winter collection is a tribute to Jeanne Lanvin and her original designs. Featuring geometric shapes, contrasting textures and patterns, and the signature straight silhouettes of La Garçonne style of the 1920s. The collection feels embossed in the likes of Art Deco and Bauhaus movements.

Perhaps the most remarkable part of Lanvin as a brand is the history behind Jeanne Lanvin, who started the brand at a time when women could not vote in France, in 1889. Her original collections were made for daughter, Marguerite di Pietro, whom she dedicated much of her designs to. This love and attention to detail is still felt in the present day. Even Lanvin’s Pencil Cat Bags feature hardware pins of Jeanne placing a hat on young Marguerite’s head.

Lanvin is a special brand, and Peter Copping’s debut collection is an exciting glimpse into what the future of the brand holds, while preserving the DNA of the brand and keeping Jeanne Lanvin’s spirit alive.
