2018 promises a year of super-heroics on the big screen, including favorites new and old.BLACK PANTHER  —  February 16th

After his stunning debut in Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther is poised to become everyone’s new favorite hero. Starring Chadwick Boseman and a cast including Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong’o, Daniel Kaluuya and Michael B. Jordan, the film is already looking like a hit. It is also the first mainstream superhero movie to be led by a person of color, which is already looking to be one of the biggest movies of the year.


THE NEW MUTANTS  —  April 13th

One of three X-Men movies this year, The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones and Charlie Heaton from Stranger Things. The first superhero-horror movie, it follows five teenage mutants who are kept a prisoner in a hospital for having powers. However, they quickly find themselves being hunted by a creature roaming the halls.


AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR  —  May 4th

A decade after Iron Man, the Marvel Cinematic Universe powers on stronger than ever, with Infinity War the second of three Marvel movies this year. The film unites the Avengers with the Guardians of the Galaxy when Thanos, a character who has haunted the series since 2012, arrives to cause problems for everyone. The culmination of over twenty movies, Avengers: Infinity War promises to be a can’t-miss event


DEADPOOL 2  —  June 1st

Deadpool was one of the funniest movies of 2016, and the sequel looks to be bringing back Ryan Reynolds and the filmmakers’ brilliant sense of humor. Uniting the title character with his longtime allies in the comics, Deadpool 2 introduces Cable, played by Josh Brolin, and Domino, played by Atlanta’s Zazie Beetz. With the first trailer already hysterical, the new movie promises to leave audiences laughing.


INCREDIBLES 2  —  June 15th

Picking up where the first movie left off in 2004, Incredibles 2 is one of the most anticipated sequels of next year. One of Pixar’s best movies, The Incredibles was begging for a sequel, which the original cast and crew will hopefully provide this summer.


ANT-MAN AND THE WASP  —  July 6th

2015’s Ant-Man ends with Hope Van Dyne finding a super suit of her own, which leads to her character the Wasp sharing the title with the original hero. Bringing back Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas alongside new addition Michelle Pfeiffer, Ant-Man and the Wasp gives us a sequel to one of the most charming Marvel movies.


VENOM  —  October 5th

A spinoff focusing on the Spider-Man villain, little is known about the movie beyond its incredible cast. The film stars Tom Hardy as the antihero also known as Eddie Brock, with Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson, Riz Ahmed and more in supporting roles. Though Spider-Man himself isn’t likely to show up, but other characters from the comics may, including the villain Carnage.


X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX  —  November 2nd

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is fourth in the series to star Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and company. Adapting one of the most famous story arcs in comic book history, the film also stars Jessica Chastain. It will also likely be the last X-Men movie with this cast, so enjoy them all while you can!

SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE  —  December 14th

While this past July’s Spider-Man: Homecoming was loved for its new version of Peter Parker, the animated Into the Spider-Verse changes things up by introducing Miles Morales, an Afro-Latino teenager voiced by Shameik Moore. With a unique animation style and a story that intends to focus on different versions of spider-men across time and space, Mile Morales is looking to lead one of the most interesting superhero movies to date.

AQUAMAN  —  December 21st

Coming off of his debut in this past year’s Justice League, Jason Momoa makes his solo debut as Aquaman in the only DC Superhero movie of the year. From the director of the Conjuring series and Furious 7 and with a cast including Nicole Kidman, Amber Heard, and Willem Dafoe, the year’s last superhero movie might just be its best.
