The city of Malaga is the heart and soul of the Juana Martín Spring Summer 2023 Collection.
New York City welcomes Spanish fashion designer Juana Martín for the first time! In collaboration with Hotel NH Collection Madison Avenue, Martín unveils her latest collection ‘Orígenes’ during a swanky private cocktail exhibition on Wednesday June 7th.
The exhibition included seven exquisite pieces with strong shapes and eclectic details, plus Martín herself spoke about the art, culture, and nature of Malaga’s influence within her work.
“My childhood was [spent] in the summertimes of the city of Malaga, in the land, [and] in the sea…is where I received inspiration for this amazing collection,” says Martín.
The Spring Summer 2023 Collection pays homage to her heritage and memories rooted in Malaga Spain, but the designer also implements the work of Spanish artist Pablo Picasso (on the 50th anniversary of his death). Martín’s designs that make up ‘Orígenes’ are meant to allow women to feel a sort of freshness and freedom when wearing the garments.
Just last year, Martín became the first female Spanish designer to debut a French Haute Couture Collection during Paris fashion week. She is still one of the only Spanish women with a license to showcase her work within the French Fashion Association.
