Jim Jones & Chrissy Lampkin Talk New Show ‘Jim & Chrissy: Vow or Never’?

Hip hop duo Jim Jones and fiancé Chrissy Lampkin move to Miami and decide it’s finally time to tie the knot after 11 years.

But when Jim insists on televising the nuptials live, Chrissy begins to have doubts given their on again, off again track record. Things begin to unravel immediately when Jim stands Chrissy up and misses the first appointment with the wedding planner to party with his boys on a boat. And when Mama Jones comes to town with the intent on stopping the wedding, the battle lines are drawn. Meddling friends and a longstanding family feud push the couple over the edge. It’s their last shot at happily ever after. Will Jim and Chrissy finally make it to the altar or will the trip down the aisle tear them apart forever?

We caught up with them to discuss the show!

Q: So you guys have been gone for a long time, how does it feel getting back into reality TV?

CL: At first I was a little reserved, apprehensive. I wasn’t really ready. I was thinking, “Why are we doing this again, it’s so taxing.” And he [her husband] just said trust me, come on let’s do this, different network, different energy so I said all right.

Q: That was the next question. Going from vh1 to WeTV, tell us about the transition.

CL: We’re still in transition so let’s see how this pans out. For the most part they didn’t pressure us to make fools of ourselves. They just allowed us to be us. *laughs* We just naturally have issues, so those things came through. It was a different working environment and like I said they weren’t here to make a fool out of anybody.

Q: Speaking of differences, what would be the difference as far as the space you guys were in for Chrissy and Mr. Jones and now Vow or Never?

CL: I was disappointed maybe. I don’t know the exact words, but I’m more comfortable in my skin. I’m comfortable with my relationship. I’m in a space where I know what I want and what I don’t want.

Q: You have friends on the show. You have Mama Jones on the show, how was that? Tell us about that relationship.

CL: Well you know, Nancy is not really fond of anybody so you’ll see her and my girlfriend go at it. *laughs* Actually you’ll see her go at it with a little bit of everybody, especially me. But I love her and she’s family.

Q: I read and saw a little bit about the wedding possibly being televised, are you against it or are you for it?

JJ: I just thought it’d be dope because we’ve been on TV for so long, that’s what I was really shooting at. It’s just to give people what they really want to get a glimpse at. I know everybody wants to see us get married but maybe I wasn’t thinking about it right.

CL: Yeah I don’t think he understands the added pressure that comes along with a televised wedding.

Q: You guys have been together for some time. Do you have any long-term advice? Is marriage worth it? Is there anything you guys have been through or overcame?

CL: I don’t like to give advice *laughs* everybody’s different! Just hopefully that person is your friend and keeps a sense of humor because life is tough enough.

Q: So if you had to describe marriage in one word only, what would it be?

JJ: Marriage in one word only??? Commitment!

CL: Death *laughs* no I’m just teasing; work!

Q: Any upcoming projects for either you?

CL: I’m trying to develop a skincare line.

JJ: She’s not trying; she is developing a skincare line.

CL: I am but I’m trying to be modest. I want to get it right.

Q: Do we have a name for it yet?

CL: I do but I don’t want to release it yet.
