The addition to the iconic portfolio celebrates the meeting of the two whisky worlds of Scotland and America, giving drinkers the chance to travel not by plane — but by glass.

The craftsmanship of Scotland came to life through a VIP tasting led by Dr. Emma Walker, as well as a Black Cask–inspired paired luncheon. Guests explored the whisky’s layered character throughout the meal, a reminder that while shows like Outlander continue to romanticize Scotland’s sweeping Highlands, kilts, and storied traditions — one of the country’s most enduring exports still remains what’s poured into the glass.

For more than two centuries, Johnnie Walker has shaped the global whisky conversation. With Black Cask, the brand continues that tradition—one foot in Scotland, the other firmly planted in the evolving tastes of American whiskey drinkers.

While bourbon currently dominates the North American whisky scene, Scotch drinkers still tend to over-index on premium pours. Bourbon fans are often drawn to sweeter profiles of vanilla, caramel, and honey.

But now, that’s exactly the divide Johnnie Walker Black Cask Blended Scotch Whisky was designed to bridge—inviting bourbon lovers and curious newcomers to discover Scotch in a new way, while giving longtime whisky drinkers a fresh perspective on a familiar favorite.

Launched nationwide at the start of the month, Black Cask marries the character of American whiskey with the craftsmanship of Scotland. Aged exclusively in ex-bourbon barrels crafted from American white oak, the blend delivers creamy vanilla sweetness, rich caramel depth, gentle spice, and smooth oak warmth. This keeps the depth and stature of Scotch while offering a more bourbon-friendly profile to welcome America’s bourbon generation into the world of Scotch.
