John Newman’s and Calvin Harris Reunite For ‘Olé’

Calvin Harris and John Newman collaborate once again on their new hit song “Olé”, only released a few days ago.

On Tuesday the 19th of July, Republic Records invited John Newman to showcase a few of his songs for the record label, including his new single “Olé”, written by Calvin Harris. Although Newman hasn’t been to New York in a while he said it feels good to come back home to his family. Avery Lipman, president of Republic Records, welcomed John Newman by saying how privileged they are to have someone so talented in their roster. Lipman added that John Newman is one of the best he has heard when singing live.

Avery Lipman was correct, it only took a few seconds for one to be completely taken away by John Newman’s voice. He started off by performing his most famous song “Love Me Again” from his album Tribute released in 2013. The 26 year-old then expressed his gratitude to the attendees for giving him the time and support he has needed in his career. He mentioned how he could sing in front of thousands of people and get less nervous than performing in his recording house. Newman then continued his performance by singing the very heart-felt “I’m Not Your Man” from his album Revolve, released in 2015.

Listening to his voice accompanied by the guitarist allowed everyone to appreciate his talent and understand why he has gotten this far, expecting many more achievements to come. Newman performed “Blame”, a song in which he collaborated with Calvin Harris for the first time, a good introduction for his new single “Olé”.

“Olé”, written and produced by Calvin Harris, is a song that does not really fall into the DJ or John Newman’s musical genres. The reggae/ tropical vibes compliment Newman’s voice beautifully and although it is not what these artists are used to producing, the song is a delight to listen to.
John Newman is gifted with an exceptional and unique voice. “Ole” is just another delight for his and Harris’ fans that showcases this duo’s talents. It is a song that provides those summery feels and can be listened to on replay.
