Jeremy Scott Fall 2016: Cowboys, Poodles & Outer Space, Oh My!

“I thought Cowboys, Poodles, Outer Space and went mad with it. It’s like Dolly Parton but more like Dolly on molly” proclaimed Jeremy Scott backstage post show.

Reporters, photographers, videographers, celebrity guests, friends, and fans swarmed Scott as he continued to reflect on his inspiration.  “It’s acid colors and plastic high heel cowboy boots and then Swarovski crystals on top of that. I did the Melissa boots with the plastic and continuing my collaboration with them. The high heels look just almost like candy in a way. It’s just having a fun and playful view of it. It’s a little bit of Mudd Club, early 80s. It’s a New York City take on country western as well as my own pop of fusion on it. And I did Ren and Stimpy because I just love them. I thought it would be kind of fun to bring them to outer space. So I asked what if I did something like outer space and they were like we’ll draw you anything. So I was like oh well then can you do kind of like Elvis poses and the microphone and the guitar and all that stuff.”

The collection was a direct reflection of all his inspirational influences. The lineup included fur and fur accented mid-length belted coats. Fringed Leathers. Western-style tops. Denim sets with colored dyed pockets and collars. Knit sweaters, dresses, and two-piece sets. Embellishments including, huge rounded beads, Swarovski crystals, and miniature retro toy charms. Of course no Jeremy Scott collection is complete without prints, graphics, and more prints! The standouts were his colorful cow, zebra, and leopard prints. His pop-art, musical notes, guitar, and telephone patterns. And lastly the star of the show, his homage to famous 90s Nickelodeon cartoon The Ren and Stimpy Show.

Another highlight of the night was Karlie Kloss took her time as she strutted down the catwalk, rubbing her hips, and being super flirty. The glam teams’ work really dazzled on the runway as well. Models rocked super big beehive hair by Eugene Souleiman with Wella professionals. The striking color eyeliner and bold bright lips were creating by Kabuki with MAC Pro team.  The up-tempo music was mix by Michel Gaubert.  And the eye-catching nails, which shimmered and shined as the light hit it was provided by Miss Pop for OPI.  We were able to talk to Miss Pop about the nail inspiration for the show, she shared this with us:

“The look today is a space cowgirl so the collection had tons of western influence and outer space so we wanted to bring that out of this world feel and then tie in the Americana so you know how those western shirts have the pearlized buttons so we brought that to the nail so back this season for Spring 2016 at Rodarte I did a metallic nail that I muted with a sheer nude. So for Fall for Jeremy we took all of his brights and we muted it with a metallic pearl. It looks like candy. It looks like grandma hard candy, like the thin ribbon hard candy. We did it in five colors “Shorts Story,” “A good mandarin is hard to find,” “The sun never sets,” “I just can’t Cope-Acabana” and “To infinity and blue-yond.” One coat of one of each of those shades and then one coat of Kyoto pearl to get this muted metallic bright. I created this look with Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele the stylist at the beauty test.”

All in all, we were totally digging the funky, cool, retro vibes of Scott’s collection. Notable guests included Jourdan Dunn, Justine Skye, Nicky Hilton, Coco Rocha, Korean-pop star CL, Skyler Samuels, Leigh Lezark, Charli XCX, and Constance White.
