IWC celebrates Tribeca Film Festival with “For the Love of Cinema” Dinner

IWC Schaffhausen opens Tribeca Film Festival 2017 with Taylor Schilling, Uma Thurman, Robert DeNiro, Zoysia Mamet and more at a dinner.

IWC Schaffhausen has become the voice of calling in each new Tribeca Film Festival with its annual  dinner celebrating IWC Schaffhausen’s support of the Tribeca Film Festival, now in its 5th year, known as “For the Love of Cinema“. For 2017, guests included Robert DeNiro, known as a co-founded of Tribeca Film Festival, as well as a substantial actor. Rosamund Pike and Taylor Schilling, actresses and IWC Brand Ambassadors, who stunned on the red carpet. Zosia Mamet of Girls fame joined Uma Thurman at the dinner along with models Adriana Lima and Karolina Kurkov among the rest of the Tribeca Film Festival founders. It’s a statement to be at this star studded event, and everyone was dressed to the nines and were talking shop in the interest of legitimizing and appreciating film in NYC.

Samantha Bee (just honored with being a TIME 100 Most Influential People of 2017) offered her hosting skills and might be preparing for her big Not Your White House Correspondent’s Dinner in some form. The guests were also treated to an intimate performance by Tony and Grammy Award Winner, Cynthia Erivo, who dazzled the crowd with her stunning vocals, as well as her dynamic Chloe dress and IWC watch.

It was an elegant evening and showed IWC’s support of the festival by making a donation to the Tribeca Film Institute (TFI), a nonprofit arts organization that supports filmmakers. The award was presented to filmmaker, Chloe Zhao at the dinner and will consist of a cash prize of $50,000, providing production or post-production funds to one feature-length narrative film, which demonstrates innovation and technical mastery, inventiveness through direction, cinematography and/or editing or forward-thinking storytelling.

It was a dynamic and exciting way to celebrate the launch of the powerful and groundbreaking Tribeca Film Festival. We spoke with some guests on the red carpet and received some interesting remarks including one from the director of the Tribeca Film Festival, who said, “I can’t stress enough how important the festival is right now. With IWC’s support, the funding is powering new world of filmmaking, and creating legacy.”
