The Knockturnal had a front-row seat to paradise for a week of performances by the artists of Pretty Boy Worldwide on the island of Barbados.

Trevor Pretty – the Bajan entrepreneur and creator of record label Pretty Boy Worldwide – hosted a group of music industry executives, modeling scouts, journalists and more to showcase his artists.

Each night the lively group gathered at the Sweetfield Manor for local food and signature drinks and were entertained with a live show. Sweetfield Manor is a boutique hotel and a historic designated colonial building. It was constructed at the beginning of the 20th Century for one of the early merchant families in Barbados.

Up first was singer Roze who hails from Trinidad.

She soothed the crowd with her jazzy vibe and smooth tone during her outdoor performance.

Next up on night 2 was firecracker Arii Lopez, known as La Mala. She brought her Jamaican and Cuban influence – performing in front of a Cuban flag – mixing it up with slow ballads and upbeat vibes.

Her standout song ‘Big D**k Josh’ had the crowd out of their seats and dancing along.

On Night Three we were serenaded by Sumerr, the latest addition to the Pretty Boy Worldwide family, who brought her Jamaican flare to Barbados.

She killed it with a cover of I’d Rather Go Blind by Etta James. But it was her original songs that got the crowd up and dancing.

The final night of the showcase featured DWN, from Barbados. Her sultry voice brought the crowd to their feet.

She was joined by rising star Gabe- and the only male artist of the Pretty Boy fam – and they sang a heartwarming duet.

Music wasn’t the only thing bringing us to the beautiful island of Barbados. Over the weekend, a modeling panel was held where aspiring Bajan models listened to modeling industry executives speak about the field.

The next day, those models ages 12 to 35 took what they learned from the panel and strut their stuff for those executives at an open casting call.

The last night of the trip was for a good cause. Pretty Boy Worldwide held a fundraising gala for HIV and to buy school supplies for children on the island.

The same PBW artists serenaded us once again for a beautiful night to round out a week to remember.
