Interviews With The Cast Of Amazon Prime’s Series, “The English,” At The Premiere in NYC!

“The English” is an action Western, with meaningful, historical context, and conversations within the story.

The series follows Actor, Chaske Spencer, who plays a Native American named, Eli Whipp, and Actress Emily Blunt, who plays an English women named Cornelia Locke, that has just arrived in America. The two characters join forces on Cornelia’s plan of vengeance and revenge, on behalf of her murdered son.

Actor Emily and Chaske’s on-screen chemistry is riveting. The two share long “insider” lingering glances during the more silent and nature focused scenes, and often communicate without words. Then prior to dramatic scenes, their facial expressions calm and console each other. Both characters learn about new versions of strength from each other- Cornelia learns physical strength, through being in survival mode in the wild, and Eli leans about emotional strength, when it comes to dealing with painful trauma from his past. The plot’s journey showcases not only action, but it also brings out the vulnerability, emotional intimacy, and comedic relief out of the leads.

The cinematography is impeccable, with breathtaking nature shots and sounds that allow the audience plenty of time to process the environment prior to the script beginning, which was refreshing and relaxing, given most Western dramas. The story line’s context is historical, and exhibits the deep and painful context of the mistreatment of Native Americans, and the territorial violence exhibited in the early settler days in America. The series offers a diverse mixture of action, silence, sensitivity, complexity, and history, which keeps offering a new continuous dynamic to the plot.
