The Netflix Marvel series, Luke Cage, threw it’s audience for a loop this season. Just as we thought the main villain, Cotton Mouth, was down and out and Luke Cage might finally get started on some “normal” superhero duties, in comes a new antagonist: Diamondback.
Diamondback, played by Erik LaRay Harvey, added a new dimension to the villain-superhero rivalry. Being the main characters half brother came with new motivations the former villain didn’t posses.
“It changes the whole dynamic of this world,” said Harvey of Luke and Diamondback’s relationship in the television series during an interview with The Knockturnal. In the comics, Diamonback, also known as Willis Stryker, is not a blood relative of Luke Cage.
“People ask did I read a lot of the comic books in order to do this role today, and I’m like no they’re so different,” explained Harvey as to why he didn’t use the comic book character role as inspiration.
At the end of the season, Diamondback is still alive after an epic battle with his sibling. Will he comeback for revenge? We dug for answers.
