The intersection between comfort cooking and elegant dining
The Meatpacking District has long been the intersection of New York City’s fashion, art, and nightlife scenes, but its latest addition is bringing a much-needed dose of “refined home” to the corner of 9th Avenue and West 13th Street. Estelle’s officially opened its doors on March 6th and is the Meatpacking District’s newest contemporary American concept is focused on elevating comfort classics into elegant and flavor-forward dishes that meet the New York dining standard and rigor.
Named after the grandmother of co-owner Sean Largotta, Estelle’s is designed to be a welcoming neighborhood fixture; a place where the warmth of a family dining room meets the elevated craft of a modern Manhattan kitchen. The design of Estelle’s reflects the layered history of the Meatpacking District. The interiors are rich with warm woods, sleek leather seating, and archival imagery of the neighborhood’s past. And the real showstopper is the exterior terrace. Positioned right outside atop cobblestone road, the outdoor dining area creates a unique charm similar to that of a European corner café. It’s the perfect place for New Yorkers to soak up the sun during the upcoming spring and summer.
And under the direction of Executive Chef Aaron Tomczak (Casa Mono and Print), the menu is focused on comfort and quality. Some of the standout dishes include:
- Caviar & Duck Fat Tots: Decadent caviar served on top of a duck-fat cooked tater tot, serving as the perfect snack ahead of the main course.
- Baked Fontina: Served with toasted sourdough, it’s the perfect savory bite for any occasion
- The Estelle Burger: Layered with aged New York cheddar, onion, pickle, and special sauce, this is a burger lover’s paradise.
The beverage program, led by John Salas (formerly of The Ned NoMad and Chez Margaux), offers a balance of classics and modern cocktail offerings.
- The Green Room: A complex, botanical blend of gin, mezcal, and pistachio-almond orgeat.
- Vantage Point: A bright, modern mule featuring Grey Goose, Italicus bergamot, and pink peppercorn.
