This summer in New York City has been a whirlwind of cultural discovery, especially thanks to The Knockturnal, which has taken me from event to event, uncovering hidden gems that remind me why this city is such a creative powerhouse. One of those gems? UNTITLED at 3 Freeman Alley.
On August 30th, I attended their kick-off event for “Tattoo Happy Hour”—a one-of-a-kind experience that merges abstract art, custom cocktails, and a touch of electric energy in the only in-hotel tattoo parlor in New York’s most iconic alley.
UNSCRIPTED Ink, nestled on the ground floor of UNTITLED, is more than just a tattoo parlor. It’s a space that invites you to channel your creativity and express yourself with ink. Every Friday from 4-7 pm, starting August 30th, guests can stop in for a flash tattoo session, with bespoke mini designs that capture the vibe of the city. What makes this experience stand out even more is that it’s paired with UNTITLED’s unique cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, and local beer from Ebbs Brewing. The combination of artistry, ink, and drinks? Pure magic.
While I didn’t end up getting a tattoo myself (this time!), the atmosphere made it hard not to feel the itch for one. Creators, tattoo enthusiasts, and artists filled the space, each bringing their own energy and flair. The parlor’s flash tattoo sheet featured designs that catered to all kinds of personalities—simple yet artistic, bold but thoughtful. The vibe was undeniably cool, laid-back, and perfect for a Friday night out.
The experience didn’t stop there. After soaking up the creativity downstairs, we ventured up to the 11th floor for a rooftop nightcap at UNLISTED, UNTITLED’s rooftop bar. Against the backdrop of the NYC skyline, drinks in hand, it felt like we had stumbled upon the perfect blend of art, nightlife, and culture.
Freeman Alley, known for its artistic flair and hidden-away feel, was the ideal setting for this event. There’s something iconic about being tucked away in one of New York’s most creative corners, surrounded by vibrant street art and the hum of the city. The live piano player added a touch of classic elegance to the evening, tying together the modern edge of tattoos with the timeless appeal of music.
UNTITLED treated us well—no detail was overlooked. It’s definitely an experience worth adding to any “Things to Do in NYC” or fall activity roundup. I left inspired and can’t wait to return, maybe even for some ink next time.
