IN MEMORIAM: Celebrated Cinematographer Louis Obioha

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louis Obioha, a talented and accomplished cinematographer, film director, and screenwriter who died unexpectedly at the young age of 33 on February 12, 2023.

Louis was known for his exceptional skill and passion for capturing stunning visuals on film, as evidenced by his work on the critically acclaimed films “Pickings,” “HomeBound,” “Making the Five Heartbeats”, and the upcoming “FLASHER,” among countless others. He was a rising star in the film and commercial industry and had earned a reputation as one of the most promising cinematographers of his generation.

Obioha’s lifelong goals were to tell strong and compelling stories and connect people on an emotional level. His highly trained eye and know-how helped countless filmmakers bring their visions to life. He was admired for his unwavering dedication to his craft, his infectious enthusiasm, and his kindness towards others. Louis’ passing is a great loss for the indie film industry and for all those who knew him. His legacy will live on through his contributions to the art of cinematography, and he will be remembered as a creative force whose talent and passion left an indelible mark on the industry.

His directorial short film debut, “Hermanita,” which he had poured his heart and soul into, will enter into the festival circuit in 2023 and 2024, and we are confident it will serve as a testament to Louis’ incredible talent.
