Jamie Drake and Mary Fischer will be honored at Housing Works’ Groundbreaker Awards Dinner April 20.
Drake will receive the award “Heart of Design” form Elle Decor. With his interior design work he has contributed many vignettes for the non-profit’s Design on a Dime event. He has been working with Housing Works for over a decade.
As an activist Fischer has been an advocate for patients of AIDS/HIV for years. With her positions as an actress, author and artists as well she has spoken out about her personal experience with the disease. She has also utilized her art to raise money to fund the fight against it.
Design on a Dime Founding Chair, and Designer James Huniford said in a statement that Housing Works is, “so proud to honor the work they have done and to have these amazing allies stand with us in our common mission to end AIDS and to provide housing and lifesaving services to those who are living with HIV/AIDS.”
Later in the month Housing Works will be hosting their annual Design on a Dime sale which is open to the public. People can go down to the Metropolitan Pavillon April 22 and 23 to shop the vignettes designed by leading interior designers.
