This may have been a Day of the Dead celebration, but we were living.

Hornitos and Mi Vida collaborated on an a night that was as reflective as it was vibrant.

The ‘Toast for the Souls’ event unveiled a community ofrenda that pays homage to lost loved ones, an altar adorned with cempasúchil – marigold – flowers from Latinx with Plants.

Guests stopped to pay their respects while also enjoying the sensational sounds of DJ Labellatini and specialty spirits from a stylish sommelier, Joseph Solis.

The agave and copitas in his terrific tequila cocktails were a big hit and got people dancing and talking. Hornitos is always a smash, so it was nice to try inventive takes on their signature taste.

I can’t forget to mention the food. The flautas with crema, queso fresco, and salsa verde were an absolute banger. I kept coming back for more – should’ve brought a doggie bag. Note for next time.
