HBO Max’s “Father of the Bride” movie is a hilarious, charming, feel-good family movie, that enthusiastically showcases social commentary in regard to blending cultures, gender norms, and family traditions.
My favorite part of “Father of the Bride,” is the way it brings about important and eye-opening conversations on gender roles and norms in marriage, partnerships and different cultural backgrounds, all while providing a funny and entertaining plot! The family cast has such an effortless and organic chemistry that depicts a family loving each other, finding compromises, and learning to be more compassionate towards each other’s differing perceptions. The film serves as a healthy representation of a family learning boundaries, gearing away from “traditional” views, and portrays a refreshing take on relationships. The plot explores how different generations within the same family find new meaning and purpose in their expression of love in both relationships and family, and the importance of the “little things” that mean so much more in the grand scheme of things. Talented leading Actors Andy Garcia, Gloria Estefan, Adria Arjona, and Diego Boneta, bring an undeniable and lovable charisma, and strong presence to the silver screen!
