HBO Hosts Exclusive Premiere Night Watch Party For “A Black Lady Sketch Show” with Cast & Crew in Los Angeles

HBO’s new comedy series, A Black Lady Sketch show is the right combination of hilarious and “woke” and just might become your new summer addiction!

Executive producers, Robin Thede who was the first African American woman to hold the position of head writer on any late night talk show and creator of hit show, Insecure, Issa Rae joined forces to introduce the half hour comedy series comprised of short sketches performed by hysterically funny, wildly dynamic characters and celebrity guests. The series will feature a core cast of black women including, Robin Thede, Ashley Nicole Black, Gabrielle Dennis and Quinta Brunson. A Black Lady Sketch Show is the first sketch comedy series to be written, directed and starring black women making it the definition of black excellence.

On Friday, August 2, HBO hosted an exclusive premiere night watch party for the debut episode in a beautiful mansion nestled in the hills of West Hollywood, CA. The show’s talented cast and crew, friends and family all came together to support and celebrate while screening the first episode as it simultaneously broadcasted around the country. Inspired by the show’s setting, the luxe event venue was converted into a theater and party space featuring A Black Lady Sketch Show photo booth, an open bar consisting of event themed cocktails such as “Melanin Magic” and “Summer Mist” all with the perfect backdrop of the sun setting in the city of angels. Guests had the opportunity to mix and mingle with the cast as they nibbled on small bites and bopped to the live set by DJ Jasmine Solano. Following the premiere that was filled with loud belly laughs and shouts of approval was a performance by “Icy” and “My Type” hip hop star Saweetie. The celebratory night continued on as guests slowly trickled out.
