We attended an elegant and well-produced event of Harriette Rose Katz’s own making: The Chosen Few’s third anniversary at Second in NYC.
The ultimate mid-NYFWM break isn’t a champagne toast uptown or a pizza downtown. No, we made our way over to The Chosen Few fete, to surely the smoothest and by far the most beautiful event in the city this week: The Chosen Few induction event. There’s a reason for it: The Chosen Few, assembled by events guru Harriette Rose Katz of Gourmet Advisory, represents the absolute best in event design and planning – in Katz’s many years of service to the industry. The organizations include tent-builders, dessert makers, lighting designers… the list goes on. For 2017, The Chosen Few has inducted only two new entrants: Sandra de Ovando of Ovando and Marianne Cordillo of Cupa Cabana Espresso & Coffee Catering. Ovando’s work was on site: she has created fabulous floral designs for many years for the likes of Hermes, Donna Karan, the US Open and many more. The Cupa Cabana Espresso & Coffee Catering is the northeast’s premier mobile espresso and coffee catering company.
Other Chosen Few organizations and individuals (all by invite-only) include Abigail Kirsch, Alpine Creative Group, Cupa Cabana, CxRA, DeJuan Stroud, Diana Gould LTD., Element Music, Fancy That, Frank Alexander, and more.
The scene was extraordinary: hosted at Second by Chef Laurent Tourondel, the full bar with the best staff ever was accompanied by a Peking Duck Station, a full sushi bar and seafood selections including Oysters and Alaskan Crab Claws. The event also featured a Photo Booth and live music by a lively band!
We chatted briefly with Sandra de Ovando who was candid and charming, speaking enthusiastically on the challenges of floral design: “It’s about being fantastic and lively. Flowers bring spaces to life.”
