‘Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta’ Cast Attends New York Premiere

Growing Up Hip Hop is branching out, with the upcoming premiere of a spinoff of the series titled Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta.

The spinoff features children of hip hop artist, producers and entrepreneurs including Reginae Carter who is the daughter of Lil Wayne, Shaniah Mauldin (daughter of Jermaine Dupri), Ayana Fite (daughter of Beastie Boys deejay Hurricane), Brandon Barnes (son of Deb Antney), and Zonnique Pullins (daughter of Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris and stepdaughter of rapper/actor T.I.), as well as rapper and actor Shad “Bow wow” Moss who is also executive producer of the series.

The series like its predecessor follows the children of the hip-hop icons trying to form their own path and identities aside from their parents famous legacies. On Tuesday, May 16th, the cast came to New York City’s iPic dine in movie theater to premiere the first episode of the series. Aside from all cast members who attended, cast members’ parents who were featured in the series including Toya Wright (author, and mother of Reginae Carter, ex-wife of Lil Wayne), Jermaine Dupri, DJ Hurricane and rapper Da Brat and Deb Antney were in attendance along with radio personality Sway who hosted a post-screening Q&A with the cast.

Prior to premiering episode one of Growing Up Hip Hop, original Growing Up Hip Hop cast member Kristinia Debarge was on hand to show a teaser clip of what to expect from the upcoming season of Growing Up Hip Hop LA which features Romeo Miller, Angela Simmons, Master P, Pepa from the rap group Salt n Pepa and more. Debarge noted that season three of Growing Up Hip Hop which will now be called Growing Up hip Hop LA will premiere in the summer.

Some highlights from the premiere episode of Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta include Bow Wow trying to decide in which city to work on new music in, how T.I’s comments regarding Lil Wayne’s controversial comment on Black lives matter had an effect on their daughter’s Zonnique and Reginae’s friendship, as well as Zonnique following in her mother’s musical footsteps trying to create here own musical legacy.

After the post-screening Q&A with the cast, the cast enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in The Tuck Room. Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta will premiere on WE TV on Thursday May 25th.
