Greenwich International Film Festival Honors YouTube Sensation Bethany Mota with #MakeAnImpact Award [Video]

The Knockturnal moderated a conversation with the YouTube star Bethany Mota after accepting her #MakeAnImpact award for her anti-bullying efforts at the Greenwich International Film Festival.

YouTube star Bethany Mota has spent a great deal of her time on her multi-million subscribed channel to discuss anti-bullying. Having been socially castigated herself in her younger years,  Mota is personally invested in working tirelessly to ensure that kids everywhere realize the dangers of bullying and ways in which to combat it. From UNICEF to PACER, Mota has worked closely with many organizations to put an end to bullying once and for all.

The Greenwich International Film Festival partnered with Global Citizens Initiative to present the bubbling YouTube personality with their first ever #MakeAnImpact Award for all her efforts to fight bullying. The award panel also recognized the high school finalists of the Global Citizens Initiative Social Impact Video Competition. The competition was open to all high school students in the Fairfield County area who submitted videos showcasing their plans on creating positive change within low and moderate-income families.

The winner, Daniella Tocco, was given a $4,000 grant to follow-up on her video, A Sense of Self Defense. The runner-ups and winners of $1,000 were Rose Luczaj, Anna Pacilio and Colleen Cooke with Giant Steps CT. The other finalists were: Naomi Pedersen with City Harvest, Patrick Lespinasse, Hilary Flores, Iyana Ellis, and Julia Perloe with Prismati, Stephanie Wistreich, Callie Morgan, Francesca DeVita, Kirwan Carey, Jesse Boolbol, and Charlie Benson with Why Are You Stressed Out.

We were honored to moderate a conversation with Bethany Mota at the Greenwich International Film Festival about her time working on anti-bullying, developing her content, and the time she was given the opportunity to talk to President Barack Obama.
