Great Jones Distilling Co. Launches Their New Campaign With The Basquiat Estate

Last week, Great Jones Distilling Co. unveiled their latest partnership with the Basquiat Estate for a limited-run campaign.  The 8 week run includes an incredible and immersive pop-up experience located in the Great Jones Distilling’s speakeasy location, The Basquiat Bar.  Within the speakeasy, guests can enjoy some of Basquiat’s favorite bites and cocktails including wagyu sliders, escargot, and shrimp cocktail dishes infused with Great Jones’ rye whiskey.  On top of that, the campaign featured curated Basquiat merch along with three limited-edition whiskies adorning designs inspired by Basquiat works of art such as the “Pez Dispenser” Dinosaur graphic, his “Untitled, 1982” (Skull), and his “Untitled, 1982” (Crown).

 

The first two bottles – Great Jones x Jean Michel Basquiat Dinosaur Edition, Great Jones x Jean Michel Basquiat Skull Edition – contain 4-year-old Great Jones Straight Bourbon ($39), available for purchase in liquor stores throughout New York State, the Great Jones Distillery and online retail partners. The third bottle – Great Jones x Jean Michel Basquiat Pineau de Charentes Wine Cask-Finished Bourbon Distillery Exclusive – with Basquiat’s iconic crown is an entirely new expression, a 7-year-old Pineau de Charentes Wine Cask-Finished Bourbon bottled at 91 proof ($150), available exclusively at the Great Jones Distillery in Noho.

And to launch the campaign, Great Jones Distilling Co. hosted a launch party at the newly opened Basquiat Bar.  At the event, guests were able to sample delicious whiskey cocktails made from Great Jones’ rye whiskey, enjoy music, and sample some of the Basquiat’s favorite bites that will be served at the speakeasy bar.  The bar itself is a throwback to Basquiat’s favorite places to go, The Mudd Club and highlight photos of Basquiat and his friends.  On top of that, the space features two borrowed original Basquiat prints from Pace Editions for guests to look upon.

And the final element for this campaign is a distillery experience for guests to partake in.  Located in the distillery’s multi-sensory Barrel Room, guests can enjoy a whiskey tasting while being surrounded by oversized Basquiat imagery, decals, and more.
