Get To Know Jersey Rapper Mid Stockz

Newark is home to rapper Mid Stockz who recently did a notable feature with New Jersey legend Tsu Surf & Loki on his latest single “Pain.”

Mid Stockz turned his natural gift for writing rhymes into a passion for rapping, which he began taking seriously in 2013, the same year he inked a deal with AM2G Entertainment. After years of putting in work, Mid reached new heights when he opened up for Dave East, Fab and Jadakiss. With plans to open up for more artists like Rod Wave, once Covid-19 has ended, Mid Stockz isn’t slowing down any time soon. Check out what else Mid Stockz had to say in our full interview below.

The Knockturnal: When did you start making music?

Mid Stockz: I initially I started writing poems in 6th grade, but I didn’t get into music until 2013 that’s when I started taking to seriously, and once I started believing in myself and people started saying I could do something with it.

The Knockturnal: Who are some of your influences?

Mid Stockz: Artist-wise, I started listening to 50 Cent first, but what really influenced my music is my neighborhood, my surroundings, people around me influenced me to get up out of there.

The Knockturnal: When did you know this is something you want to pursue seriously?

Mid Stockz: I had a little poem that I wrote and I read it to some people and their reaction is what pushed me, to get the reaction I got put a battery in my back after that a lot of people kept coming to me telling me to write to a beat and that’s when I realized I got to take it seriously.

The Knockturnal: What your favorite song of yours and why?

Mid Stockz: My favorite song right now is “Swervin’” because when you hear it – from young to old you hear it and you get a little bop. It’s a feel good song. When we did the video it felt like a block party.

The Knockturnal: What have been the 3 biggest moments of your career so far

Mid Stockz: Opening up for Fab & Jada, opening up for King Combs, Dave East, and I’m supposed to be opening up for Rod Wave when Jersey opens back up and my Tsu Surf feature.

The Knockturnal: What was it like collaborating with Tsu Surf on “Pain?”

Mid Stockz: It was good energy. Once we got to the studio we really just got right to work and just seeing how he work and his energy was a dope feeling.

The Knockturnal: How did the feature come about?

Mid Stockz: We got a lot of mutual people so when we did listening sessions, as we listened to the song we were like what if we got Surf on this. We reached out and it was a green light.

The Knockturnal: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Mid Stockz: I see myself in a higher position, billboards, radio, in a better situation, and out there making music with a bigger platform. In 5 years I see myself being on the best emerging artists out of Jersey.
