GEORGINE Presents SS17 Collection at New York Fashion Week

GEORGINE’s Spring Summer 2017 collection exudes both high-end elegance and a punchy, youthful attitude.

Drawing inspiration from fashion icons like Frances Bean Cobain and Zoe Kravitz who, like many young women, incorporate classic pieces from their mothers closets in their own innovative looks, designer Georgine Ratelband says that her collection embodies a concept of dressing “where luxury goods coexist with rock t-shirts, intricate Couture beading meats motorcycle jackets, and lightweight furs are punctuated by combat boots.”

The collection is notably influenced by the grunge movement, a style widely embraced trendy young women today. Featuring plaid prints, combat boots, metal accents, and tousled bobs, the 90s flavor of GEORGINE’s looks were appropriately matched with hits by artists like Courtney Love and Sonic Youth, which accompanied the runway show. These rugged elements are balanced by sophisticated textures and silhouettes, such as sequined palazzo pants and perfectly tailored calf-length coats. The aesthetic is freshened by sporty details like the adidas inspired ribbons that run down the sides of chic drawstring pants. GEORGINE may be a young womenswear label, but it has proven itself to be relevant, attentive to detail, excitingly diverse.
