“The Tutor,” starring Victoria Justice, Garrett Hedlund and Noah Schnapp is a psychological thriller following a tutor for New York’s elite. Ethan (Garrett Hedlund) lands a high-paying gig for a billionaire’s son. Soon after, Ethan realizes that his student’s interest in his life becomes an obsession. As tension grows, Jackson’s accusations (Noah Schnapp) threaten to expose Ethan’s perceived dark secrets to his girlfriend (Victoria Justice) and to the authorities. As sentiment turns against Ethan, it is up to him to unearth Jackson’s accusations and prove his innocence.
I chat with the star of the film, Garrett Hedlund, about starring in his first psychological thriller and more.
“The twist on this one threw me for a loop,” Hedlund said. “I haven’t done many thrillers, let alone psychological thrillers, so that was a unique part. When I finished reading the script for the first time it really reminded me of a film like “Primal Fear,” for its twists but, with sort of a dramatic devotion to the characters.”
“I wanted to add something to this one that made it relatable, made it sort of a struggle to watch … with me being the protagonist,” Hedlund added. “The twist on this one threw me for a loop.”
“The Tutor” will be released in theaters March 24th.
