Exclusive: Cast Talks ‘Game Shakers’ At Special Set Visit

Yesterday, September 6th, The Knockturnal got an exclusive interview with the adorable and uber talented stars of Game Shakers on Nickelodeon on their set in Burbank, California! Season 2 premieres September 17th at 8:30 pm EST! The set is really colorful and dynamic, with everything a kid would ever want: from a giant gummy bear to a donut pitt.

Yes, a donut pitt…stay away, Ariana!

First, we caught up with the boys, Thomas Kuc and Benjamin Flores Jr. who play Hudson and Triple G on the show.

What is your favorite part about playing your characters?

Thomas: My favorite part about playing Hudson is that he’s really funny – he has a joke almost every line and he always makes the audience laugh which is really cool. He’s never afraid to take risks, and if there’s a stunt or a challenge, he’s never afraid to do it, which is cool.

Benjamin: My favorite part about playing Triple G is he’s a gamer – he loves playing games and he does a lot of stunts. So that’s really cool that I get to do all of my own stunts and he’s a really awesome guy.

What’s it been like working with the director?

Thomas: So awesome! There’s a lot of different directors we work with. They always get these run throughs, which are basically like short plays that we put on for the audience and producers, and they always know how to get the blocking down and everything.

Benjamin: Each of hem have a unique style too, so it’s cool to work with them every week and get a diverse work area.

Has there been a favorite moment on set?

Thomas: We ride hover boards, which is awesome. And we play football. Also there’s this one episode with dogs… fun fact: I ended up adopting one of the dogs. Her name is Nova now. He’s the godfather (pointing to Benjamin). So yeah that was probably my favorite.

Benjamin: His dog is so cute! So many cute dogs. There’s a cool thing that happens in Season 2, but we gotta keep it down on the low. September 17th!!!

Is there one piece of set you would take home with you if you could?

Thomas: Probably that huge gummy bear.

Benjamin: I would take the donut pitt. But everything here is awesome.

Later on, we caught up with the lovely ladies, Cree Cicchino who plays Babe, and Madisyn Shipman who plays Kenzie.

What is your favorite part about playing your characters, and is there anything about them that you relate to in your real life?

Madisyn: Kenzie and I are very different but similar in some ways. I’ve discovered more about Kenzie, and she’s definitely taken a big part in my life as well. So I feel like we’re bonded together. But things like being smart, girl power – I feel like we’re similar in those ways.

Cree: I really like Babe, because I feel like there’s a lot of different sides revealed about her on the show. When she’s tough and independent and doing crazy stunts, of course that’s fun, and I love stunt scenes, you’re going for it all out. But I think something really rewarding is knowing how to switch it up: getting intimate as a good friend, being boy crazy, and exploring those different sides as an actor to widen my abilities.

Is there anything different in Season 2 that the fans can look forward to?

Madisyn: There’s definitely a lot of romance and drama going on. I can’t spoil a lot but a lot of immediate friendship and romance things between Hudson, Trip, Babe and Kenzie.

Cree: Season 1 was learning about the different cast members and their relationships with one another, but now we’re sort of learning the different sides of them. When they fight and have these romances outside of the intermediate cast. So it’s great to see the different sides of them.

Has there been a favorite moment on set filming Season 2?

Madisyn: We just recently started filming Season 2. But a lot of things crazy and embarrassing things in season 1. My character has a crush on Thomas in season 1, and I trip down the stairs and fall head over heels (wink wink) because of him. There’s always that, but also having animals on set which is a lot of fun.

Cree: We’ve had a lot of great moments. I love working with Nathan Cress because I did admire him when he was on iCarly, and it’s great to work with somebody who can help you through the process of working on that kind of dialogue and comedy. Those are really special moments.
