TV Review: ‘FOR PEETE’S SAKE’ Starring Holly Robinson Peete & Rodney Peete On OWN

Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete both rose to stardom in the 80s and 90s.

Rodney, a NFL quarterback for 16 years and Holly best known for her acting roles in Hanging with Mr. Cooper and 21 Jump Street both make up The Peete’s. With decades of success, the couple gives the world an intimate view into their personal lives in a new docu-series on OWN titled For Peete’s Sake.

The duo have been married a whopping 20 years, with four beautiful children (Ryan, RJ, Roman and Robinson). RJ, the twin of Ryan was diagnosed with autism early on. After being told by doctors that he would never be able to speak, he has defied the odds and found his voice. Each of the Peete children are unique in their own ways; on the series Holly and Rodney both face the challenge of teaching them survival with being African-American in society.

Dolores Robinson, Holly’s mother is best described as “something else.” While she is creeping up on the age of 80, Ms. Robinson is still full of life. From her getting tattoos to meddling in her daughter’s marriage, she provides most of the comedic relief.

In the series premiere, the Peetes take the world by storm daily. They show the world that not every Hollywood family is full of drama and body altercations. Although they are not perfect, they give us their version of reality with loads of laughs and chaotic antics. Together the family make up a hilarious team without feeding into stereotypes.

Tune into the series Saturday’s 9/8c on OWN.
