If Christmas season is your favorite time of the year, you’re not alone. Charleene Closshey’s new album “Christmas Time is Here” carries the warm sounds of joy, remembrance, and hope.On November 19th, the Art Deco Salon at the Essex House Hotel hosted the release of Broadway/Film Actress, and Musician Charleene Closshey’s new album “Christmas Time is Here”. Guests were welcomed in this intimate space with champagne, hors d’oeuvres, and ribbon wrapped copies of the new album. The evening continued with an expressive performance by Closshey accompanied by Bruce Dailey on the piano, and Sam Levine on woodwinds. The performance featured songs from Closshey’s album, specially arranged by Closshey for the evening, including I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day, which made it to the Top 20 Adult Contemporary Charts in 2018.
Produced by Grammy Award winning Brent Maher ,“Christmas Time is Here” features Closshey’s musical approaches on classic Christmas songs, as well a special, original composition with the lyrics of the renown Ave Maria. The track list further includes Christmas in Killarney, an Irish-American Christmas song, O Holy Night, Good King Wenceslas, an English carol, and more.
To Closshey, following her creativity means following the path of love, honesty, and joy: all emotions that Christmas season inspires. “For me this album was truly an exploration of joy,” Closshey told The Knockturnal, “It was all about finding songs, finding arrangements, composing new elements, and bringing all of these things together to really find a place that, inside of me, resonated in a way that anytime I sang it, anytime I spoke the words, anytime I listened to the music, I could just start vibrating from a place of happiness.”
For Closshey, the joy that the Christmas spirit evokes should be present all year round. Let us welcome the feeling with these heartwarming melodies.
