First Trailer Released for Michael Bay’s ’13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi’

The trailer for Michael Bay’s next film, 13 Hours, appears more mature and serious, unlike anything he’s ever tackled before.

If I say the name Michael Bay, what is it you think of? If your answer wasn’t one of explosions or Transformers…than you and I must know two different Michael Bay’s. The opinion of Michael Bay in Hollywood is something that’s split when it comes to casual film goers and critics, with the casual fans finding joy in the action packed thrills Bay brings to the big screen while critics aren’t all that impressed. It’s very possible that may change with Michael Bay’s next project, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, based off of actual events.

The first trailer has its share of explosions, but 13 Hours looks tense, thrilling, and it looks like something that I may want to see in theaters. Picture something similar to Zero Dark Thirty, but with less nuance and what looks to be more action. I’m not quite sure Bay has the directing chops to bring this story to its highest potential, but so far I’m intrigued and interested to see what else he has up his sleeve. Although the January release date doesn’t give me too much hope.

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi is directed by Michael Bay, written by Chuck Hogan based off the non-fiction book 13 Hours by Mitchell Zuckoff, and stars James Badge Dale, John Krasinski, Mar Martini, Toby Stephens, Pablo Schreiber, David Denman, Dominic Fumusa, and Freddie Stroma. 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi will be in theaters January 15, 2016.
