Film Review: ‘A River Below’

If you have one ounce of love for this planet in your heart, I highly recommend this documentary about the Amazon pink river dolphins the fight to saving them from extinction.

“You’re watching one of the most clever, intelligent and charismatic mammals in the world,” Fernando Trujillo, the world’s leading expert on the creatures said. “Even for the indigenous people they are a kind of sacred animal.”

The documentary filmed by Mark Greico starts off with a video footage of fisherman killing one of these beautiful dolphins, later you find out the controversy behind this and the efforts these two men go in order to save these creatures also known as Boto.

Fernando Trujillo along with animal rights activist and South American reality tv star, Richard Rasmussen, passionately pull through to the media in order to get the public attention and turn around the laws that should protect the Boto.

Trujillo first arrived in the amazon from Columbia to become the dolphins protector at the age of 19 and for 15 years he has done nothing more than fight for their lives and report on them.

This film goes into depths of what it means to fight for our mother nature and with that the external effects it has on others.

Catch it in theaters in LA and NYC.
