Film is GREAT Reception Celebrates British Nominees of the 89th Annual Academy Awards

The weather in Hollywood was stunning this Friday and a party as lovely as the weather took place to honor British nominees of the 89th Annual Academy Awards.

At Fig and Olive guests gathered for a spectacular evening of toasts to Tinsel Town and a special musical performance by Jessie J at the Film is GREAT.

At the event nominees gathered on the red carpet to discuss the joyful bliss of being up for the biggest award in the industry. Host British Consul General Chris O’Connor OBE, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the United States Sir Kim Darroch greeted guests warmly to the fantastic soiree sponsored by British Airways.

“It is a nice place to be and I am just soaking it all up,” said screenwriting nominee Luke Davies of Lion.

Guests included Ai-Ling Lee (Best Achievement in Sound Mixing, La La Land), Andy Nelson (Best Achievement in Sound Mixing, La La Land), Angie Fielder (Best Motion Picture, Lion), Anna Pinnock (Best Achievement in Production Design, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Colleen Atwood (Best Achievement in Costume Design, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Consolata Boyle (Best Achievement in Costume Design, Florence Foster Jenkins), Emile Sherman (Best Motion Picture, Lion), Greig Fraser (Best Achievement in Cinematography, Lion), Iain Canning (Best Motion Picture, Lion), Joanna Johnston (Best Achievement in Costume Design, Allied), Joanna Natasegara (Best Documentary Short Subject, White Helmets), Luke Davies (Best Adapted Screenplay, Lion), Marcel Mettelsiefen (Best Documentary Short Subject, Watani: My Homeland), Neil Corbould (Best Achievement in Visual Effects, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Orlando von Einsiedel (Best Documentary Short Subject, White Helmets), Stephane Ceretti (Best Achievement in Visual Effects, Doctor Strange), Stephen Ellis (Best Documentary Short Subject, Watani: My Homeland) and David Mackenzie (director, Hell or High Water).

“This is a great week here,” said the director Mackenzie about the biggest time in Hollywood.

At the party guests enjoyed a special menu created by chef Gordon Ramsay OBE and cinematic themed cocktails provided by Berry Bros. & Rudd and Ridgeview Sparkling Wine. Jessie J sang as guests danced the night away to have fun and perhaps shake off the upcoming nerves for the awards show.
