‘Father Mother Sister Brother’ Film Premiere at the New York Film Festival!

“Father Mother Sister Brother” brought a plethora of interesting and complicated family dynamics to the New York Film Festival!

When it comes to the new film, director Jim Jarmusch doesn’t want us to analyze. Instead, he urges viewers to sit back, relax, and simply observe. I found interviewing him on the red carpet quite refreshing. Unlike other directors who have heavily thought out their plots and characters, Jim has an existentialist mindset when it comes to his art. During our interview, he mentioned, “Well, I’m not trying to say anything with this film. I’m trying to observe people without judgment. So, it’s really trying to engender observation and empathy…these people have flaws as we all do, but we’re not critical of them. We’re just kind of observing the complexities of just being a human being.”

His statement was compelling because of its laissez-faire approach. Actor Luka Sabbat added, “I just love his attitude. Jim’s just kind of an icon. There’s only one Jim. He’s just inspiring as a person…his approach to film and how he treats it almost like poetry and music. I love…you know, sometimes people will look for these extremely deep meanings, and he’ll be like ‘nah, there’re just people.'” Expect the unexpected when it comes to Jim’s unique take on cinema.
