Fall Fitness Challenge With Christian Castano [Week Three]

The first few steps of any new journey are typically easy. You start with one small step after another full of fresh energy. But, as time goes by the excitement can dwindle and the movements can start to slow as you begin to hit a mid-way hump.

The same principle applies to a new exercise program in your life. At first things seem hard, but you have momentum to keep pushing you in the first few weeks. Pounds melt away and you start to get a sense of more energy. The next step is not always full of joyful bounces.

Yet, fitness trainer Christian Castano is a coach as much as he is a mentor. When approaching the next step of fitness it has to be realized that a hump does not mean you are allowed to quit. His philosophy is that you have to know that a bad day does not mean it is the end. Nothing is over as long as you realize that weakness and exhaustion are key points that need to be recognized and fought against if the challenge is to be completed.

In this week, the workouts became harder and more focused on how learn to do dynamic movements correctly to get your heart rate up and to burn more calories. The first workout of the week was intense and full of none stop movements concentrating on our three key body parts – arms, legs and abs. There was no stopping when he was right there to push you to exhilaration. But, the rest of the week when the coach was not on the sidelines was hard. The cardio required every day in between sessions felt sluggish. It was done, but it was completed full of wishing it had been harder and more productive.

But, just a text message away the renowned trainer said, “The only bad workout is the one that didn’t happen.”

In those simple words are pure truth. It will not get any easier in the next week. You may want to get teary-eyed and throw in the towel after feeling frustration. You may want to give up. But, you cannot. You just cannot stop.
