Zoe Lister-Jones and Daryl Wein co-directed, co-wrote, and co-produced the feel good apocalyptic comedy that chronicles the last day on earth.
In addition to those credits, Wein also served as co-DP and co-editor, while Lister-Jones stars as Liza, a freewheeling young woman who scores an invite to one last wild party before the world ends. Making it to the party will not be easy, however, as Liza must tie up loose ends with her eclectic friends and family in a hilarious journey alongside her younger self, portrayed by Cailee Spaeny.
Lister-Jones previously directed Spaeny in The Craft: Legacy, and was thrilled to reunite with her on screen. “It was a dream,” Lister-Jones said of working with Spaeny. “She’s a dreamy person and actor to work with, both as a director and as a co-star.”
How It Ends features an all-star cast including Lister-Jones, Spaeny, Fred Armisen, Whitney Cummings, Nick Kroll, Olivia Wilde, Finn Wolfhard, and more. The film was one of the few movies to be made and fully completed during quarantine, with many of the actors filming their scenes in their own front yards and doing their own hair, makeup, and wardrobe.
How It Ends premieres on digital and in select theaters on July 20.
