The First Annual SKAM Summer Music Summit will take place at the 178 room Dream Hollywood in Hollywood, CA.

The 2-day summit was created by Sujit Kundu, founder, and CEO of SKAM Artist and Skam division. Travis Scott’s CACTI Agave Spiked Seltzer,  Jack Daniels, Tequila Herradura, Jardín, and more will be sponsoring the festivities. This event will be a conference-style celebration that brings together Influencers, DJs, top radio programmers, and executives. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be a 24-hour live stream implemented into the itinerary. The stream will allow fans and viewers worldwide to take part in the action. Kundu has connected with over 500 DJs who will provide musical entertainment both for in-person and virtual guests. There will be many talented DJs present, which include Samantha Ronson, DJ Irie, Lil Jon, and more. Newcomers will be provided the opportunity to show off their skills and network as well.

Kundu spoke with our correspondent Rebecca Eugene about what inspired him to create The SKAM Summer Music Summit and what he hopes attendees take away from it. The event will last from August 22, 2021, through August 23, 2021,  ending with a huge birthday celebration for Kundu.

The Knockturnal: What inspired you to create the First Annual SKAM Summer Music Summit?

Sujit Kundu: During the covid lockdown, many DJs began streaming on twitch – and the interaction between the DJ and the chats allowed the DJs to show their personalities. As a result, with this new digital Dj community, I figured a summit could be created to bridge them all together, essentially a “Comicon – but for DJs.” I really wanted to create something unique and special within the music/DJ space.

The Knockturnal: As covid cases continue to rise. What safety precautions are being taken for in-person attendees?

Sujit Kundu: We will follow all the guidelines in place on the dates of the summit, and stick to any mandates and protocols that must be followed per the venues, hotel, etc.

The Knockturnal: Besides the performances, what other events will attendees be able to take part in?

Sujit Kundu: All events are listed on www.skamartist.com –with happenings both at Dream Hollywood and The Highlight Room (a main hub for the schedule) and around town at locations like State Social and 3rd Base, as well as the virtual Twitch stream for 24 hours. But the summit is less about the actual events and more about the amazing mix of people that will be in attendance.

The Knockturnal: What do you hope for attendees to take away during this Summit?

Sujit Kundu: I hope guests and performers are able to enjoy the experience, staying at the hotel, and have a few day break period from all of the stress that the covid lockdowns have put on us. In addition, I hope they also meet and build both friendships and work relationships to last a lifetime. We have events and programming for industry leaders to interact, share ideas, and bridge platforms. (The Skam Summit will also consist of guests in all 186 rooms at the Dream Hollywood – a true music industry takeover.)

The Knockturnal: What are you looking forward to the most throughout the 2-day Summit and Celebration?

Sujit Kundu: The 24 hour stream! My birthday is also during the Summit, which will make it a truly special experience.
