As the world of professional wrestling is slowly going back to the level of the pre-pandemic days, STARZ network decided to make their way into the squared circle with Heels. Heels is STARZ’s take on the high and lows of the industry as a whole. The story follows Jack Spade (Stephen Amell) and his younger brother Ace (Alexander Ludwig), as they face the challenges of upholding their father’s legacy in professional wrestling after he passes away suddenly.
Staci Spade (Alison Luff) is Jack Spade’s wife who learns that her in-laws have put their family’s emotional well-being on the line for their wrestling goals. Mary McCormack plays Willie Day, Jack’s business partner and the organization’s logistics manager. Crystal Tyler, Ace’s valet and love interest, (played by Kelli Berglund). James Harrison, former two-time Super Bowl champion, plays as Apocalypse, a veteran wrestler who’s been at it for decades
Writer-producer Michael Waldron (“Loki” and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) is behind Heels with Executive Producer Mike O’Malley (“Survivor’s Remorse”) as showrunner. Peter Segal (Get Smart, 50 First Dates, Tommy Boy, “Shameless”), who directs several episodes, also serves as Executive Producer of Heels.
In this exclusive interview, The Knockturnal’s Julian Cannon speaks with the cast and creator of Heels as they give their insight on what stories we will see, and what it was like to step in the ring for the first time in their lives.
