Exclusive: Sandra Bullock & Cast Talk ‘Bird Box’ at NYC Premiere [Video]

Sandra Bullock and cast wowed onlookers at the New York City Netflix premiere of “Bird Box” at Lincoln Center.

Directed by Susanne Bier from Eric Heisserer’s script and inspired by Josh Malerman’s novel, Bird Box invites viewers into a post-apocalyptic world that leaves you on the edge of your seat and makes the viewer wonder throughout the movie what is going to happen next. The movie follows Malorie (Bullock), a woman who is reluctant to become a mother, but who then finds herself trying to survive through a dystopian setting with a pair of children- all while blindfolded.

In most of the scenes in the movie, the cast acts while blindfolded, because if you take the blindfolds off, you risk loosing your sanity and, in most cases, bring death upon yourself by evil mysterious forces. Although Malorie (Bullock’s) role in the movie is self-centered upon herself and hesitation about bringing a child into the world, she eventually garners up the strength and courage to survive in a chaotic and hostile world around her which, in return, transforms her character into a stronger, more loving individual by the end of the movie.

While we were at the red carpet for the special screening of Bird Box, director Susanne Bier told us that “she was compelled by the story’s presentation of motherhood”. Much of the presentation of motherhood in the film resonates profoundly with unconventional families as well as women who are about to become mothers and their effort in trying to survive while defending and protecting their children.

Joining Sandra Bullock in this all-star cast ensemble are Trevante Rhodes, Sarah Paulson, John Malkovich, Lil Rel Howery, Rosa Salazar and Machine Gun Kelly.

Bird Box is set to premiere on Netflix on December 21st.
