Exclusive: Sabrina Carpenter, Liza Koshy, Jordan Fisher & Keiynan Lonsdale Talk ‘Work It’ [Video]

Quinn Ackerman [Sabrina Carpenter] has done everything perfectly to earn acceptance to her dream college, Duke University.

Sadly, this means the highlight of her social calendar, is cello recitals at a nursing home. When asked about her passions, however, she draws a blank. When she is challenged by Duke admissions officer Veronica Ramirez [Michelle Buteau] and choreographer Jake Taylor [Jordan Fisher], Quinn plunges into a brand new extracurricular — dance.  She turns to her best friend Jas [Liza Koshy] , who is a sensational dancer on the school’s top dance squad — the Thunderbirds to help her make the team.

When Quinn doesn’t make the squad, she goes against the Thunderbirds captain, Julliard [Keiynan Lonsdale] and decides to start her own team. She asks Jas to be captain and they’re joined after much convincing by Jake Taylor when he agrees to choreograph their ‘Work It Dance Competition’ routine.  Ever since a torn ACL ended his performing career, he’s been laying low at Lil’ Stompers dance studio, teaching little kids how to dance. After Jake starts giving Quinn private lessons, she gains confidence and grasps what Jake has always known: self-expression is grounded in feeling, not thinking.

Without the security blanket of study aids, Quinn learns how to dance and find that she’s actually pretty good at it. The Knockturnal got to speak to the cast of Work it ahead of the premiere on Friday, August 7th – which will be streaming on Netflix. Check out our exclusive interviews above!
