Exclusive: Naturi Naughton, Mary J. Blige & Michael Rainey Jr. Talk ‘Power Book II: GHOST’ [Video]

The highly anticipated sequel to Starz’s hit show, POWER is finally here with an all-star cast.

The immensely successful series created and produced by Courtney Kemp and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson quickly became a fan favorite. Viewers eagerly waited for their weekly dose of drama, action, and plot twists as they watched the rise and demise of the infamous Ghost [Omari Hardwick]. The POWER series ended with a shocking reveal, leaving fans curious as to what is next. Which leads us to POWER BOOK 2: GHOST.

Following the jaw dropping finale, POWER BOOK 2: GHOST picks up with Tariq St. Patrick [Michael Rainey Jr.] having to adjust to his new life with his mother, Tasha [Naturi Naughton] in prison, his father dead and a rigorous academic schedule at an Ivy League university. Tariq has to grow up quickly as he juggles between keeping up with schoolwork to earn his inheritance and struggling to pay Tasha’s pricey defense lawyer, Davis Maclean [Method Man]. Tariq has no choice but to follow in his father’s footsteps as he gets entangled in the drug game with newcomer to the show, Monet Tejada [Mary J. Blige]. “She’s really not a nice lady because she has to be strong, she has to keep the business going,” says Blige as she describes her character. With the introduction of another strong woman in the mix, one has to wonder, will she be a friend or foe? “Tasha and Monet, Mary’s character are in different worlds, however connected through one piece of the world. Once our worlds collide, then we will see what goes down,” exclaims Naughton.

Staying true to the Power verse, fans can expect shocking twists, bold moves and a slew of interesting new characters. The Knockturnal was able to get an exclusive interview with Naturi Naughton, Michael Rainey Jr. and Mary J. Blige to discuss what’s in store for the new series. Be sure to check it out!
