Buckle up and be prepared to take a wild ride.
The award-winning feature film “Hard Luck Love Song” explores the rocky relationship between Jesse, played by Michael Dorman, and Carla, starring “One Tree Hill’s” Sophia Bush. Jesse is a charismatic but down on his luck troubadour hustling pool in dive bars, living out of cheap motels, and making bad decisions.
In “Hard Luck Love Song,” Jesse finds himself at an existential crossroads during a chance encounter with his old flame Carla. The two go on a crazy, restless adventure hoping to rekindle their relationship, but their complicated past destroys their blissful reunion.
“The Knockturnal” sat down exclusively with the two lead actors Dorman and Bush to get to know more about the film and its characters.
“For me, the real sort of joy about this movie was to explore someone who wasn’t the best at something,” Bush remarked. “To play a woman who carries shame about her experiences, who has been shaped by difficulty, who is not the best at something, but wants to be better, and believes that there is something about this connection, this love, this partnership that makes her come alive.”
The movie, written and directed by Justin Corsbie, is based on the song, “Just Like Old Times” by acclaimed Americana singer/songwriter Todd Snider.
“Hard Luck Love Song” hits theatres on October 15.
