“All About That Bass” singer Meghan Trainor is now “All About That Bank” with a new podcast, a new TV show, and a new partnership with Gerber. But her most important job? Being a new mom.
Meghan and early childhood nutrition leader, Gerber, have teamed up to celebrate babies’ first taste moments. In the ~celebratory spirit,~ they are hosting a giveaway of free baby food for a whole year to one lucky winner. To enter the contest, all parents have to do is post a photo of their baby’s “first taste moment” on Instagram by September 30. Posting a cute pic of our baby on Insta and win free food? Heck, we do that now for free!
After giving birth to her beautiful baby boy, Riley, Meghan was determined to find a healthy and tasty option for her baby, but with that came a bit of trial and error.
“Everyone in Los Angeles told me, ‘Oh, I made my own food and then I put it in ice cubes, saved it, and blended up spinach and blueberries,’” said Trainor. “And so I tried that because in my brain, I was like, ‘That’s my only option, I guess’ and it came out like mud and it was gross.”
To no one’s surprise, Riley wasn’t a fan of the mud either and that’s where Gerber came in.
“Gerber does a great job of putting kale with apples or spinach with apples, so it’s green and it’s good for him but it’s also a little sweet,” says Trainor. Hey, Gerber…want to make adult food too?
Not only is Gerber food Baby Riley approved, it has made food time fun. According to Meghan, she and her husband Daryl fight over who gets to feed the baby now. Um, couple goals much?
But when Meghan isn’t testing Riley’s baby food, she’s in testing contestants’ food as the new co-host of Top Chef: Family Style. “I don’t know who was like we should get Meghan Trainor but I’m so glad they did because I am not a chef and I don’t know anything about cooking.”
Not only does Meghan say she learned a lot about cooking from the show, she also found a new great friend in her co-host Marcus Samuelsson. Top Chef: Family Style filmed three months after Meghan’s C-section, but Marcus was there to save the day. “When I was in my heels all day, he would run and get my Uggs for me and slip them on and I was like, ‘You’re an angel, I don’t deserve you.'” From the sounds of it, everyone needs a Marcus Samuelsson in their life.
But Marcus isn’t her only amazing co-host. Meghan and her brother and co-host, Ryan Trainor, discuss topics that Meghan hasn’t brought up anywhere else on their new podcast, “Workin’ On It.” Self-proclaimed “Massholes,” Meghan and Ryan aren’t your stereotypical “LA family.” From opening up about feeling sexy again after her c-section, to Ryan’s sobriety journey, their vulnerable, comical, and honest approaches to real-life problems make the show relatable and entertaining. (P.s. as someone also from Massachusetts, the term “masshole” is definitely a compliment.)
With a baby, a new podcast, and a new TV show, Meghan definitely has her hands full. But just wait, there’s more. Trainor exclusively told The Knockturnal that she started writing new music last week. “I think I might bring back some “doo-wops” I’m really excited about it,” said Trainor. Yes, you read that right and yes, we’re freaking out too.
You can enter the Gerber Baby Food contest by posting a picture or video of your baby on Instagram with #GerberMy1st, #sweepstakes, and tagging @Gerber by September 30.
