Lupita Nyong’o and Alexander England star in a new movie about zombies.

Nyong’o portrays Audrey Carolina, a kindergarten teacher who will do anything to protect her students from evil zombies. The Knockturnal caught up with Nyong’o at the films New York premiers to hear her thoughts on her new role.

“It’s [Little Monsters] really a homage to kindergarten teachers who are superheroes in their own right,” Nyong’o shares “with that, it’s like a romance and a zombie apocalypse, and a visit to a petting zoo and Taylor Swift all in one!”

Her co-star, Austrialian actor Alexander England portrays Dave, a washed up guitar player who falls for the caring school teacher. England chats about his role, “I’m so proud of the film, I’m just really excited the audience gets to see this thing … I just can’t wait until it’s out there”.

Alexander talks about how his character mirrored his own life after high school, “I certainly had a period when I finished high school and I wasn’t sure where I was headed, thank God this whole acting thing worked out ‘cause it gave me a bit of direction.”

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and begins streaming on Hulu Oct. 11th.
