Exclusive: Jocelyn Hudon Talks New Thriller ‘Safer at Home’ [Video]

Safer at Home follows a group of friends who throw a ‘party’ over Zoom in the midst of the pandemic. Two years after the Covid-19 outbreak, the virus has mutated to a much deadlier strain leading to a police state in the city of Los Angeles.

After ingesting an unknown pill from the safety of their individual homes, the friend group quickly finds themselves in a precarious situation with seemingly no solution.

The pandemic era thriller features an ensemble cast starring Jocelyn Hudon, Emma Lahana, Alisa Allapach, Dan Johnson, Daniel Robaire, and Michael Kupsick. Will Wernick served as the writer, director, and producer of the film who conceived the idea to create a movie that replicates popular video chat software Zoom.

Ahead of its release on Digital and VOD, The Knockturnal was able to chat with Hudon who played Jen in the film discussing with her the ins and outs of creating a pandemic-inspired thriller in the midst of an actual pandemic.

“The biggest difference due to the pandemic was the size of the scenes. Normally we would have five- or eight-page scenes but these were 20-page scenes kind of like a play almost.”
