The cast of the ABC-hit sitcom is celebrating the season two debut this week!

The beloved show, The Wonder Years, is back for season two! During our interview, we chatted with the cast to learn more about the debut and what they are most excited about. “I’m glad to be back with this cast,” says excited Elisha Williams. “I’m overjoyed to be here and to continue to tell the story of ‘The Wonder Years’, says Dulé Hill. Showcasing a middle-class Black family in the 1960s, the story follows through the perspective of Dean Williams (Played by Elisha).

The leading ladies of the cast, Saycon Sengbloh, and Laura Kariuki, shared that the relationship dynamics of the characters evolve tremendously. “Kim was able to see another side of Lillian this season,” Laura (Kim) recalls. “Getting to see that they are more alike in ways than she has previously thought is a big thing that happened this season.”You also get to see father/daughter connections as well,” Saycon (Lillian) chimes in. The expansion of the family has brought more out of us – different comedic sides!”

Lightly teasing, the new season will feature an array of guest stars: Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Patti LaBelle,  Phoebe Robinson, and Tituss Burgess.

The cast believes that this series is a “generational show” when discussing the negative stereotypes of African Americans in television. “I think people don’t understand that you don’t need to come from struggle to be successful,” says Elisha. “I’m very honored to be a part of the show…if we stay connected in love, unity, joy, and laughter, we can find our very own wonder years,” Dulé said.
