Exclusive: Daniel Dae Kim and cast talk National Geographic’s “The Hot Zone: Anthrax”

National Geographic’s “The Hot Zone: Anthrax” is a scientific thriller that will be sure to grab your attention after the first episode.

“The Hot Zone: Anthrax,” inspired by true events, is the second season of the anthology series about deadly diseases. The chilling story takes place in 2001, when the United States was rocked by another deadly act of terrorism, just three weeks after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Letters containing anthrax were sent to unsuspecting victims in major cities like Florida, Washington, D.C., and New York, targeting major media outlets and politicians.

Meanwhile, the unbelievable crime story unfolds many layers to the horrific events during the 2001 anthrax attacks. The limited series stars Daniel Dae Kim, who plays the lead FBI agent, and Tony Goldwyn, a brilliant microbiologist working closely on the case to uncover the person behind the deadly anthrax letters.

The Knockturnal exclusively sat down with Daniel Dae Kim, Tony Goldwyn, Harry Hamlin, and executive producers/showrunners Kelly Souders, along with Brian Peterson to chat about the intriguing new series.

Kim revealed what it was like playing the lead FBI special agent in “The Hot Zone: Anthrax.”

“It was a big challenge and a challenge that I took seriously…I undertook with respect. These are some hard-working people, who really helped our country when we were in need and they were real people who died as a result of these attacks. So, I approached it with a lot of reverence and respect.”

National Geographic’s scientific thriller, “The Hot Zone: Anthrax” will premiere during a three-night event over Thanksgiving weekend, beginning Sunday, Nov. 28, at 9/8c on National Geographic and will stream on Hulu.
