Exclusive: Ariana Guerra and Ryan Zaragoza Talk Upcoming Film: Madres

Last weekend, the Knockturnal sat down with the cast of Madres to discuss their experience on the upcoming installment in the Welcome to the Blumhouse series.

A Mexican-American couple (Ariana Guerra and Tenoch Huerta) expecting their first child relocate to a migrant farming community in 1970’s California. When the wife begins to experience strange symptoms and terrifying visions, she tries to determine if it’s related to a legendary curse or something more nefarious.

While technically a slow-burn, Madres builds enough tension throughout to keep you on the edge of your seat way before it’s climax. Led by two fantastic performances by Ariana Guerra and Tenoch Huerta, its a film that leaves you satisfied not only because of the convincing acting, but also because of its tight directing and interesting ending.

We were able to sit with Director Ryan Zaragoza to ask what went into putting together a film like this, as well as some of his favorite horror movies that may have had an influence in the film.

In addition, we sat down with lead actress Ariana Guerra to discuss what preparations she took to be able to give the strong, convincing performance she delivered.

Madres releases October 8, only on Amazon Prime Video.
