Exclusive: All-Star Cast Talks Beautiful New Love Stories Featured in ‘Modern Love’ Season 2 [Video]

Your favorite love stories from the famous “Modern Love” column in the New York Times, turned to an Amazon original hit series is back for another season of intricate, beautiful, and passionate story telling.

Similar to season one, season two is packed with an all-star cast including Minnie Driver, Kit Harrington, Garrett Hedlund, Sophie Okonedo, Tobias Menzies, Zoe Chao, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Marquis Rodriguez, Zane Pais, Lulu Wilson, and newcomer Grace Edwards. This anthology series continues to explore love in all its forms including the complicated, heartbreaking, painful and beautiful forms. Each episode highlights human connection in all its glory and from episode to episode you’re bound to see yourself through this vivid story telling.

Many readers of the famous “Modern Love” column have created a Sunday ritual of reading or listening to the love stories submitted by real people and adored by thousands. If you are a fan of the column then you would know there are a plethora of amazing stories to choose from, yet the series only focuses on eight. “I went with my gut in terms of…if I had a personal response to an episode, if I felt that lump in my throat or that sort of like male thing to pretend, I’m not crying when something has hit me; that was a good radar to tell me if there’s something good here,” creator and director John Carney explains.

The title of the series is perfectly fitting, Modern Love because although love can be displayed in many ways, how audiences view love and how it’s depicted on screen has somewhat evolved. The dated, boy meets girl, girls meets boy, they fall in love and live happily ever after is not only unrealistic, it’s not as praised anymore. People are finding it increasingly difficult to relate to that ideology of love which is why the Modern Love series aims to represent all forms of love and has done it so effortlessly. “I think it’s why this show is really popular because love comes in many forms and that’s what people want to celebrate now a lot more than the tired, old, traditional way that it was depicted,” said Okonedo.

Modern Love premieres on Amazon Prime Video on August 13.
