‘The Deliverance’ Celebrates Its New York Arrival with Star-Studded Events

The highly anticipated film, The Deliverance celebrated its New York debut with an extravagant dinner hosted by the renowned Bevy Smith at the prestigious Le Bernardin.

The event attracted a stellar lineup of notable personalities, including the film’s director, Lee Daniels, and other talented cast members. The guest list included many distinguished figures such as Sunny Hostin, Tamron Hall, Don Lemon, Kehinde Wiley, Jerrod Carmichael, Kara Young, Nick Cannon, Jordan Cooper, and Ari Melber, creating an atmosphere brimming with star power and excitement.

The following evening, August 2, 2024, Lee Daniels and the cast organized an intimate screening of The Deliverance at The Whitby Hotel. This exclusive event featured a screening of the film followed by an engaging Q&A session moderated by Sunny Hostin. The screening drew additional high-profile attendees, including Angela Yee, DeRay McKesson, Kelly Augustine, TJ Holmes, and Amy Robach.

The Deliverance narrates the gripping story of Ebony Jackson, a single mother grappling with personal demons who relocates her family to a new home in search of a fresh start. However, their hopes are soon dashed as unsettling events unfold, drawing the attention of Child Protective Services and threatening to tear her family apart. Inspired by true events, this genre-defying film, starring Andra Day, Glenn Close, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Mo’Nique, delves into themes of darkness, possession, and the quest for a higher power.

The film will stream on Netflix on August 30.
