The Predator (2018) is the latest installment in the Predator film series. And the hunt has evolved, according to the film’s tagline.

The original predators had casual fun killing humans, creating crossovers with aliens, and hosting intense sporting matches. But soon audiences will meet a predator who wants to “conquer the Earth” according to one trailer. And although that sounds like a lot more work than a hunting trip with buddies, the newest predator is a force not to be reckoned with.

Fortunately, Sterling K. Brown (This is Us, Black Panther) has rounded up a ragtag crew of bellicose misfits to valiantly stand between Earth and its adversaries. Unfortunately, they appear as an even less functional Suicide Squad.

Also starring are Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, and Jacob Tremblay. The supporting cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Yvonne Strahovski, and Jake Busey.

Filmmaker Shane Black amps up the action and jokes in the trailer as the extraterrestrial hunters descend upon American suburbia. In contrast, other Predator flicks have stuck to horror, suspense, and jungle settings. Black actually starred in the original Predator in 1987 alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. He has gone on to direct hits such as The Nice Guys, the Lethal Weapon series, and Marvel’s Iron Man 3.

The trailer is set against a Tom Morello track titled “Rabbit’s Revenge” featuring Bassnecter, Big Boi and Killer Mike. The song is from Morello’s upcoming album The Atlas Underground. And if it’s meant to imply humans are the rabbits in this scenario, then it’s a perfect fit.
